lightCALC advanced – Step 4 – Advanced/Layout

This continuation of Step 4 allows you to “tweak” the results achieved in the first section.

Here you tell the computer how to adjust spacing within and between rows.  Rows are the number of fixtures north-to-south (as defined by the graphic).  Columns are defined by the number of fixtures east-to-west (again, defined by the graphic).

By checking the box labeled “Layout” adjacent to either rows or columns, or both, you limit the software by assigning how many rows and luminaires per row are allowed.

By checking the box labeled “Spacing” adjacent to “Rows” or “Columns” you can input specific spacings between or within rows.

Checking “Wall Spc” allows you to adjust the origin location of fixtures or rows relative to walls.  Use these commands to shift luminaire arrays away from, or closer to, certain walls or areas.  This command allows you to cluster fixtures into areas, or to avoid areas where architectural details prohibit the location of fixtures.

A box is available titled “Ceiling Grid.”  Clicking the arrow next to this box opens a menu of typical ceiling grid patterns.  A smaller box labeled “Center” allows you the option of having the computer automatically center the ceiling grid within the space, or assign an asymmetric spacing to the grid pattern.

As you make these adjustments, the graphic will change to track your actions.
